About Gamma Phi Beta

Founded in 1874 at Syracuse University, Gamma Phi Beta strives to inspire the highest type of womanhood.  We build confident women of character who celebrate sisterhood and make a difference in the world around us.

The DC-MD Alumnae Chapter serves sisters in the District and in the Maryland suburbs around the District.  We strive to offer activities of interest across this wide geographic region that will appeal to women at all stages of life, whether recent graduate, mid-career, or retired.

We gather monthly from September to May at a sister's home for a potluck dinner or at an area restaurant to enjoy good food, good company, and discuss the business and upcoming events for the chapter.  We often include a bit of Personal and Chapter Enrichment (PACE) to keep things interesting.

Many of our alumnae members are from the Beta Beta chapter at University of Maryland, and as the closest collegiate chapter, we support Beta Beta in their philanthropy and recruitment activities.  We celebrate the graduates each semester, and enjoy Founders Day at the house each November.  Other nearby chapters that we support are Epsilon Pi at George Mason and Gamma Beta at Gettysburg.
